to fill out
* Gather ads from individuals and merchants for the program book
* Work at the event
* Help with phoning
* Many more opportunities - just let us know you're interested
The money we raise will go to improve and enhance the park. Without your donations, the park will not get the financial support it needs.
We'd really like to have lights at the park, and this is our next big step to raise money for that and other projects.
Would you like to donate? Just send a donation to us at: Friends of the Culver City Dog Park, P O Box 4129, Culver City CA 90231-4129. We are a 501(c)(3) non profit corporation, so your deduction should be tax deductible.
Donations of any amount are welcome and needed!
When you bring your dogs to the park, please be sure they're on leash until they get into the park. Bring plastic bags, water and a head covering. AND NO SMOKING IN THE PARK, PLEASE!!
We could use some pooper scoopers at the park..just bring them up and leave them there. Everyone will appreciate it.
Our park now has a new address: It is on the newly named "Leash Lane" at the corner of Duquesne, south of Jefferson Blvd.
If you'd like a photo of your dog to be on a bulletin board in the park, please mail a photo (no larger than 4x6 and non returnable) to Friends of the Culver City Dog Park, P O Box 4129, Culver City CA 90231-4129. We look forward to seeing all of the photos of the dogs who love the park.
PLEASE NOTE: THE BULLETIN BOARDS ARE CONTROLLED BY THE CITY. ANY ITEMS POSTED MUST BE PRE-APPROVED BY THE CITY OF CULVER CITY. The City will not approve advertisments for your business, events, lost or found dogs or dogs for sale, or anything of that nature.
Would you like to sponsor our website? Only $100 gives you a full month with your name on every page of our site, announcements in our email group to more than 1100 households and businesses that you are supporting us in this way, PLUS a photo of your dog as host dog for that month. Openings for hostings start in March 2008. Just email us which month you choose.
The Boneyard is owned and operated by the City of Culver City as a part of our City's park system and is located in Culver City Park on Duquesne, south of Jefferson Blvd. This phase (Phase 1) of the park has been built by funds raised by Friends of the Culver City Dog Park since its inception in August, 2001. Thanks to all who have made this possible.
It's very important that you take the time to know the rules of the park as well as how to use the double gates. The City's rules can be found at http://www.culvercitydogpark.org/main/019_Boneyard_Rules_And_Guidelines.cfm Be sure to bring extra plastic bags when you come to the park. Remember also that all dogs will be running off leash in the park, and that this can create a dangerous situation for children.
We are thrilled that the park is open and we look forward to seeing you at the Boneyard and continuing to work together to raise money to improve the park in the future. Enjoy!!
REMEMBER THAT THE BONEYARD IS THE ONLY PLACE IN THE PARK WHERE DOGS ARE ALLOWED.
We are working on major donor funding from foundations, organizations and government. We have some great ideas for future projects, such as wheelchair access to the park, agility courses, a wall, and other items that will not be feasible with the money already raised. Let us know if you would like to join this committee or if you'd like to volunteer in any other way.
We list our events on the Culver City Website. www.culvercity.org - Look at the Community Calendar.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
1) Where is The Boneyard? The Boneyard is in Culver City Park, south of Jefferson, where Duquesne dead ends. Enter the park, go up the hill and you will run into the dog park at the first stop sign. There is no street address for the Dog Park. A map is located on our website under "Dog Park Site"
2) Why do we need to raise money? Most off leash dog parks are supported by both the community and the City where they're established. Raising money made the dog park a reality sooner than if we waited for the City to fund it on its own since City money is scarce. We opened Phase 1 of our park with the basics we needed, but we will need to continue raising money for additional items and improvements. Make checks payable to: Friends of the Culver City Dog Park mail to: P O Box 4129 Culver City CA 90231-4129
3) Is this park restricted to Culver City residents? This park is open to the community, as are all of the other parks in Culver City. However, all dogs need to be legally licensed in the city or county where they live.
4) Is there a small and large section? Yes. We have a small/timid dog area separated from the large dog area. Both have double gates and a water fountain. The ground cover is decomposed granite, which is easy to maintain and easy on the dogs' paws. The dogs really love it, too.
5) Is this a non-smoking park? Yes, smoking is NOT allowed in the park.
